We like that you can set a maximum vehicle speed to get a much more accurate estimated arrival time. Because you can programme in your vehicle’s dimensions, it makes it easy to avoid unsuitable routes. Still, because it takes note of both the width and height of your vehicle, if you are pulling a wide load, it will find suitable routes that avoid narrow lanes and sharp bends that would be difficult to navigate.

Because you can set a max speed, it makes it easier to plan arrival times for campervan drivers and caravan towers that are required to drive at lower speeds. So, for example, if you drive a truck restricted to 52mph, the TomTom Truck Sat Nav GO Professional 620 will adjust your eta to accommodate your speed limit and automatically readjust your eta should you encounter an accident or temporary roadworks etc.

We also liked the high brightness and sunlight-readable screen, making it easy to read the display when glare would otherwise be an issue. Final thoughts

We rate this model highly because of its large and easy-to-read display, even in bright light conditions that would make reading screens difficult. We also found the device fitted to the windscreen well, and the mount held the sat nav firmly, which reduced rattle and movement over rough ground.

The hands-free features and voice recognition is good, saving a lot of frustration when you need to keep your eyes on the road or don’t have time to pull over to search for the information you need.

The sat nav can be packed away out of sight, or you can buy a case that also has room for the power cables and connectors. This makes it easy to keep safe and carry with you when not in use, and you are away from your vehicle.
